How to Check Your Tablet Model - Timecity®
Knowing your tablet’s exact model number is essential for finding the right accessories (cases, screen protectors), checking compatibility with software updates, or troubleshooting issues. Here’s how to find it on the most common tablet brands.
Method 1: Check Within the Tablet’s Settings (Works for All Brands)
This is the easiest and most reliable method.
Step 1: Open the Settings app on your tablet.
Step 2: Scroll down and look for one of the following options (depending on your brand and Android version):
About Tablet
About Device
System > About Tablet
Step 3: Inside the "About" section, look for:
Model Number
Model
This is your tablet’s model number (e.g., *SM-T870*, A2109, *iPad Pro 11-inch*).
Tip: On iPads, go to Settings > General > About and look for Model Name or Model Number.
Method 2: Look at the Tablet’s Physical Body or Box
If your tablet won’t turn on, you can find the model information printed on the device.
Step 1: Turn your tablet over and look at the back cover.
Step 2: Look for small, faint text near the bottom edge. You may need good lighting or a magnifying glass. You will usually see:
Model: XXXXX
Or an "FCC ID" followed by the model number.
Step 3: If you still have the original packaging, check the barcode label on the side of the box. The model number is clearly printed there.
Method 3: For Specific Brands
For Apple iPad
Open Settings > General > About.
Look for Model Name (e.g., *iPad Pro (11-inch) (3rd generation)*).
Tap the Model Number field to see the shorter number (e.g., A2377).
For Samsung Galaxy Tab
Settings > About Tablet > Model Number (starts with *SM-*, e.g., *SM-X700*).
For Lenovo Tab
Settings > About Tablet > Model Number (starts with *TB-*, e.g., *TB-J606F*).
Method 4: Use the Original Purchase Receipt or Online Account
Check your order history. The product title often includes the exact model number.
Retailer email: Search your inbox for the order confirmation email.
Manufacturer’s warranty page: If you registered your tablet, log into the brand’s support website.
Final tip: Write down your model number and keep it somewhere safe (e.g., in a note on your phone). You’ll thank yourself later when you need to order accessories or contact support.
